Today marks the WSOAPP April 7th update! I just added the new extreme primitive angel doll (pattern by Netty LaCroix) pictured below to my Old World Primitives WSOAPP Shoppe.

April will be my final month on WSOAPP, and starting May 1st you may find me on Early Work Mercantile (in addition to my Old World Primitives Etsy Shop). I will be closing down my retail store in approximately 2 months and transitioning that page over to a homepage for my handmade wares soon after.

Primitive Cloth and Paperclay Doll

Meet Rosa, the newest addition to my Old World Primitives Etsy shop. She is an OOAK cloth doll with a face sculpted from Paperclay. She is also entirely hand painted and antiqued.

I also must thank Heather of Audrey Eclectic for presenting me with this lovely award:

Thank you so much, Heather. I will be back after I get some more work done to tag a few people with this award.

March WSOAPP Update and Retail Blowout Sale

My Old World Primitives WSOAPP Shoppe has been updated for our March 7th update with the two new items pictured below – an extreme primitive cow doll and a set of three primitive carrot ornaments.

Also, today marks the start of my retail blowout sale! I am now down to my final days of selling retail, and have placed EVERY item on Final Sale. Take a peek for some really deep discounts! I have only 1 left of many of the items that remain in stock, so if you see something you want, please grab it. Items will not be restocked as they sell out – I am closing out of my imported retail inventory so that I may turn my full focus to my handmade dolls.

Another New Addition to my Primitive Decor

The newest addition to my primitive home decor arrived yesterday all the way from Texas, and I am absolutely in love with it. Would you ever guess that this cabinet is an antique reproduction?

This cabinet is a big 78″ tall, 25″ wide, and 12″ deep. There are four shelves inside which I have used to de-clutter my crafting room. It feels so nice and clean in here now. This room of my house still needs a lot of work, and having this beautiful piece of furniture in it is now an inspiration to get the rest of that work done.

My new cabinet was handmade by Joseph Spinale – he has shops on eBay and Etsy. He uses hand planed pine and square cut nails to create his amazing 18th & 19th century antique reproduction furniture. My husband and I are already planning our next purchase from him.

Primitive Folk Art Sheep Doll

Just added to the Old World Primitives Etsy Shop – a primitive folk art sheep doll.

SOLD, thank you!

This primitive sheep doll is made of heavily coffee stained muslin. He has a painted black head, vintage cotton batting tail, and antique rusty nails for legs. He wears a poem printed on heavily stained, torn paper that has been attached with two pieces of twine with some sweet annie tucked behind it. This primitive sheep is a Kentucky Primitives design, and measures 8.5″ long by 7.5″ tall.

Primitive Bunnies in a Cabbage Leaf Garden

The bunnies are back once more, just in time to welcome spring! The primitive bunnies in a cabbage leaf garden are available now in the Old World Primitives Etsy shop.

This primitive garden vignette was handmade by Old World Primitives using a Kentucky Primitives design. The bunnies, carrots, and turnips are made of muslin stuffed with natural fibers that have been painted, stained, sanded, and grungied with cinnamon. The cabbage leaf is made of two layers of painted, stained, and cinnamon dusted muslin. It also has a stuffed stem and a few wire “spines” between the leaf layers to help it hold its shape. The primitive bunnies have antique rusty square nails for legs, vintage cotton batting tails, and hand sewn eyes and noses.

Primitive Folk Art Cloth and Clay Doll

Old World Primitives has been updated for February 7th with the primitive doll pictured below.

SOLD

I recently took part in the Cloth and Clay Doll workshop offered by Gritty Arts Studio, and created this doll during the workshop. I have discovered that I absolutely love working with Paperclay on top of a cloth doll body, and definitely plan to make more dolls with sculpted faces in the future! The primitive doll pictured above is also hand painted and antiqued. I also have some more goodies in the works that will be added to the Old World Primitives Etsy shop soon too.

Extreme Primitive Doll with Chicken Tag

I just added a new extreme primitive doll to the Old World Primitives Etsy Shop. She is rag stuffed and wears calico angel wings and a chicken tag. I also gave her mismatched vintage button eyes, a very serious mouth, and a single tuft of hair to complete her extreme prim look. She was created using a Netty LaCroix design and is a big 32″ long. You may view more photos of her over on Etsy.

SOLD, thank you!

I am also excited to announce that the Etsy Season of Love contest ended today and that my primitive doll is featured in The Storque article announcing the voter favorites. Thank you to all who voted for her!

My New Period Lighting

I received a most exciting package last night – two historically inspired chandeliers handmade by Yankee Crossing. I had been longing to replace some of the modern-looking ceiling fan light fixtures in my home with some 18th century style chandeliers ever since I discovered Yankee Crossing, who were featured last year in the Early American Life Directory of Traditional American Crafts. Here are some photos that I snapped of my new goodies (not yet installed):

The colors of each chandelier are a perfect match for my bedroom and dining room, respectively.

Vintage Style Chenille Easter Ornaments

I just added a new set of 6 vintage style chenille Easter ornaments to the Old World Primitives Etsy Shop. The set includes two of each ornament style pictured below. These chenille ornaments are an Old World Primitives design, and are made of chenille plus vintage paper scrap Easter images printed on card stock.

Featured on Today's Primitive Home Also, I am honored to announce that my primitive crow doll a few posts below is featured on Today’s Primitive Home today. The women who run the site feature “exceptional, distinctive, OOAK handcrafted American Folk Art created by contemporary American Artisans, for your Primitive, Early American and Colonial style home” as a wonderful free service to the primitive community. They have a giveaway running now for an 18th Century Reproduction Wall Box (and I reeeeeally want to win!).
